Programs

The Youth Development Foundations’ constitutional objective is to develop and implement programs & strategies that assist local youth become responsible and employment ready members of the community.

Each of our programs are designed specifically to suit the needs of individual learners. During the enrolment process, participants will work with our experienced staff to identify barriers and develop an individual learning plan that will identify the areas in which the young person may require the most assistance in towards improving personal circumstances, completing a qualification or gaining employment.

Youth Skills

Youth Skills is a 10-week program dedicated to supporting individuals who are aged 15-24yrs and engaged with Youth Justice or the Queensland Correctional Services, or at risk of criminal activity, by providing the tools, resources, and guidance to transform their lives. 

By focusing on education, skill-building, and employment support, the program paves the way for participants to achieve stability, success, and meaningful reintegration into society while completing a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways. 

Participants will engage in a variety of activities such as team-building exercises, adventure-based learning, workplace visits, guest speaker sessions, and recreational activities such as boxing and group gym sessions. 

This program is fully funded through the QLD Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative.

Ready For Work

Our Ready for Work program is a 6 week job-readiness program designed to assist young people aged 15+ to transition into the workforce focused on job search assistance and training.

This program is dedicated to building job-readiness by equipping participants with the skills, confidence, and
experience needed to gain meaningful employment.

Participants will develop essential tools such as resumes, cover letters, and interview skills, while
also engaging in confidence and motivation building, communication and teamwork activities, one-on-one mentoring, and valuable work experience, alongside local business connections and post-placement support.

This program is fully funded through the QLD Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative.

Community Work Skills

Our Community Work Skills program is a 6-week program designed for young people aged 15+, to develop employability skills while completing a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways.

The Certificate focuses on enhancing digital literacy, reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication, learning, and employability skills, helping participants build confidence in the essential skills needed for daily workplace tasks. This qualification is ideal for those who require additional foundation skills development to prepare for employment or further education and training.

Participants will engage in a variety of activities that complement the theoretical components of the qualification, including mock interviews, workplace presentation workshops, life skills development, health and wellbeing sessions, confidence and motivation building. These activities ensure participants are fully equipped with the tools and resources needed to transition into employment.

This program is fully funded through the QLD Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative.

Work Skills Traineeships

A 20-24 week paid project-based initiative that employs jobseekers aged 15+, while they complete a Certificate I in Workplace Skills.

This traineeship focuses on building vocational and employability skills for long-term unemployed and disadvantaged job seekers, providing a pathway to employment by enhancing their skills, confidence, and workforce readiness. 

Positions on this program are limited and require an interview process.

Participants will engage in a variety of activities, including media projects such as publishing community newsletters and magazines, event management activities like organising community career expo’s, workshops, and cultural celebrations. 

Additionally, this Program also offers First aid and CPR training, communication and team-building skills development, driver’s license training assistance, one-on-one personal development, career advice, and mentoring support.
